Education Coordinator- Full Time Days

Summary
Demonstrate expertise in adult learning and clinical education to support competency, professional practice, and patient safety across nursing and allied health disciplines. Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, and evaluate educational activities focused on clinical competence, preceptor development, simulation-based learning, workplace violence prevention, competency validation, and American Heart Association training programs. Serve as an educational resource to clinical staff, leaders, and interdisciplinary teams.
Major Job Functions
The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time:

• Partners with department leaders, Clinical Educators and managers to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to promote clinical competency and professional practice
• Acts as a resource for adult learning principles, clinical education, allied health education and assigned specialty areas
• Provides or coordinates educational activities utilizing adult learning principles according to planned objectives
• Assists with annual competency validation, skills assessment and remediation programs
• Develops, coordinates and evaluates allied health and interdisciplinary educational programs
• Supports development, implementation and evaluation of preceptor education and development initiatives
• Facilitates workplace violence prevention education, including de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention and employee safety training
• Facilitates simulation-based learning activities including scenario development, simulation delivery, and debriefing
• Coordinates and delivers American Heart Association (AHA) courses and maintains instructor status as required
• Promotes evidence-based practices through consultation, committee participation and educational activities
• Supports accreditation, regulatory and compliance-related education requirements
• Participates in continuing education in assigned specialty areas to maintain competency
• Incorporates appropriate resource utilization, including data collection, retrieval, analysis, and reporting
• Provides feedback in a constructive manner and promotes a positive learning environment
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education and Formal Training:

• Associate's degree in Nursing, Allied Health, Health Sciences or related healthcare field required
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Allied Health, Health Sciences, Education, or related healthcare field preferred
• Current licensure, registration or certification in a healthcare discipline, as applicable, required
• Specialty certification and/or AHA Instructor certification preferred

Work Experience:

• 3 years of healthcare, clinical, allied health, education, workforce development or related experience required
• 1 year of experience providing staff education, classroom instruction, competency validation, simulation training or workforce development activities required
• 1 year of experience in allied health education, preceptor development, simulation or AHA instruction preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
• Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
• Strong verbal, written, presentation and facilitation skills required
• Ability to mentor, coach and effect positive change
• Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and clinical education practices
• Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills
• Knowledge of competency-based education and training methodologies
• Knowledge of workplace violence prevention strategies and de-escalation techniques
• Ability to facilitate simulation-based learning activities and educational technologies
• Demonstrates credentials as an instructor-level provider in AHA programs and other assigned education programs, as applicable

Physical Requirements:

• Speech and auditory acuity for communication and instruction
• Visual acuity for observation and assessment of learner performance
• Many hours of standing, walking, bending and lifting
• May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials
• Must be able to lift 35 pounds
