Steel Fixer

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret construction drawings, reinforcement schedules, and specifications.
• Cut, bend, position, and fix steel reinforcement bars (rebar) according to drawings.
• Assemble reinforcement cages, beams, columns, slabs, walls, and foundations.
• Use hand and power tools to cut, bend, tie, and secure reinforcement steel.
• Ensure reinforcement is correctly positioned, aligned, spaced, and securely tied.
• Install spacers, chairs, and supports to maintain the required concrete cover.
• Work closely with steel fixers, carpenters, concrete workers, and site supervisors.
• Check completed reinforcement work before concrete is poured.
• Maintain tools and equipment and keep the work area clean and organised.
• Follow site safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
• Work at heights and in confined areas where required.

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Steel Fixer/Rebar Worker in construction.
• Ability to read and understand reinforcement drawings and measurements.
• Good knowledge of rebar cutting, bending, tying, and fixing techniques.
• Physically fit and able to handle heavy materials.
• Comfortable working outdoors and in different weather conditions.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Relevant construction/steel fixing training or certification is an advantage.
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
