Administrator, Machine Shop (Part-time, Fixed Term)

This is a fixed term and part-time role for 25 hours per week (Mon-Fri preferred) for 6 months based at Instron’s High Wycombe site.

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Machine Shop Administrator to support the day-to-day administration and planning activities within our Machine Shop. This is a key role that ensures the efficient coordination of production planning, purchasing, supplier management, health and safety administration, payroll administration, and machine shop reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate machine shop planning and administration activities.
• Expedite supplier orders and manage tooling purchases.
• Maintain production records, spreadsheets, reports, and KPIs.
• Administer monthly payroll timesheets, material certificates, tooling invoices, and machine checklists.
• Support Health & Safety processes and compliance documentation.
• Manage stock, raw material reordering, PPE, and stationery purchasing.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and ISO quality standards.

About You

• Previous administration experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel and computer skills for data input and using established report templates.
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities.
• Knowledge of stock control and purchasing processes (desirable).
• Proactive, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong awareness of Health & Safety requirements.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
• Advanced Excel training and Power BI knowledge are advantageous.
