Responsibilities:

• Receives, sorts, inventories, decontaminates cleans, inspects, and sterilizes surgical items.
• Loads and operates washer-decontaminators, ultrasonic cleaners, and sterilizers.
• Dates, stores and rotates sterile and non-sterile items. Inspects for outdated items.
• Uses and evaluates sterilizer test indicators.
• Inventories and maintains prescribed levels of sterile items for the operating room, Emergency Room and other clinical areas that require sterile instruments.
• Reports defective material or equipment and takes appropriate action to repair or replace items.
• The Central Sterile Technician reports to the Clinical Director of Surgical and Obstetrical Services.
• Performs job duties in a manner that will ensure a physical environment free of hazards to self and others.

Required Qualifications:

• Requires one-year certificate from college or technical school or one year of related experience and or training.
