R&D- Associate Chemist

• -Accurately weigh, measure and process powder coating samples for testing while meeting agreed on timelines
• -
• -Operate laboratory specific manufacturing and testing equipment related with powder coatings production
• -
• -Follow specific Industry testing procedures such as ASTM and ISO methodologies
• -
• -Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of lab work, formulations, and testing
• -
• -Support the development and formulation of new coatings for the General Industrial market
• -
• -Work on coatings technologies including powder polyester TGIC and HAA, Urethanes, Hybrid polyester epoxies, pure epoxies, and related chemistries
• -
• -Contribute as a team member on larger, more complex programs before moving on to lead smaller projects
• -
• -Design experiments, evaluate data, and make technically sound recommendations for next steps
• -
• -Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of lab work, formulations, and testing
• -
• -Prepare written updates and technical presentations for internal teams and stakeholders
• -
• -Collaborate with cross-functional partners including manufacturing, sales, marketing, and customers
• -
• -Participate in product scale-up, validation, and launch activities including Stage Gate processes.
• -
• -Travel to manufacturing and customer locations to support trials and implementation when ready

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• -
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
• -
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team
• -
• Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills
• -
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• -
• Interest in developing project management skills
• -
• Experience with statistical analysis or data evaluation preferred
• -
• Hands-on laboratory skills to execute experimental designs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Formulation experience in coatings or related field

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
• Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
• Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
• May work indoors and outdoors as needed. Exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees.
• May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.
• May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.
• May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.
• Work surfaces may include concrete.
• Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as required.
• Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
• Some travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required.
• TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 30%
• This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H-1B visa.
• Successful candidate will be required to sign an Employee Restrictive Covenant Agreement where permitted by law.
• This position is also eligible for bonus based on performance and subject to the terms of the Company’s applicable plans.
