What you will do

Within the role you will provide specialist technical activities associated with the High and Low voltage distribution systems across Shotton Works

As a member of the Electrical Distribution department, the jobholder will be involved in the provision of electrical services to a wide variety of areas; this includes, switchgear maintenance and protection testing on the works distribution network at all voltages from 33kV down to 415V.

Within the role your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to

• Monitor the condition of the TATA Shotton Works HV distribution and LV distribution system
• Adhere to local and works procedures in relation to both safety and environment, undertaking risk assessments and contribute to the delivery of the local health and safety plan
• Undertake projects, preventive and corrective maintenance on LV distribution systems
• Support the HV Engineering manager in delivery of projects, preventative and corrective maintenance on the High Voltage network at Shotton works
• Facilitate with the development of Apprentices and deliver HV and LV modules
• Review maintenance procedures and amend/implement as necessary
• Run and maintain standby generators
• Assist manufacturing and other end users in fault resolution in those areas of overlap between the HV/LV network and end users’ part of the system
• Testing of the works earthing network
• Be authorized and able to deputize for the HV engineering manager

Work with the HV engineering manager to develop plans to rationalize the systems, removing any un-necessary section of the network that no longer serve any purpose

What you will need

High voltage engineer with practical experience of switchgear maintenance and knowledge of high voltage network and protection systems would be an advantage but not essential as training would be provided

He/she must have good communication skills and an understanding of company procedures, good risk awareness when planning and undertaking tasks and be able to challenge those who do not

A working knowledge of SAP is preferred

Be able to plan activities and direct personnel as required
