How you will create an impact
This is a fantastic role for a qualified actuary to join our team. You will lead the Lloyd’s business planning process and provide pricing support across Talbot’s Marine lines of business.
The role combines portfolio management, business planning and pricing leadership and will provide extensive exposure to senior stakeholders across the business.
Some of the key responsibilities include
- To lead the running and timely delivery of the Lloyd’s business planning process and related studies.
- Deliver business insights through analytical work supporting Detailed Valuation Reviews, Event Loss assessments and emerging trend assessments to support effective portfolio management.
- Lead analyses that support the selection of Premium Risk parameters for the Capital Model and validate these selections according to Talbot validation timelines and requirements.
- Actively monitor trends and pricing metrics across the portfolio
- Assist the pricing team to identify models that require calibration
- Communicate results to various departments in a clear and relevant way to enable effective and timely decision making.
- Work across various lines of business to support Underwriters and the Head of Portfolio Management to develop more profitable portfolios
- Collaborate effectively with external and internal stakeholders (across the AIG group) related to the business lines such as actuaries, underwriters, portfolio managers and
- Work across Marine lines of business to support Underwriters to develop more profitable portfolios through:
- Development of pricing models
- Maintenance and enhancement of existing pricing models
- Periodic recalibration of pricing models and tools to reflect the current year’s business plan.
- Perform and develop individual risk pricing in support of the underwriters.
- Assist in the collection and research of pricing data, and then in the development of analysis and reporting of pricing data.
- Drive and embed pricing governance within the team (developing clear audit trails, setting governance priorities)
- Incorporate feedback from internal reports on model usage/ portfolio analytics to determine model updates
- Support pricing modernisation initiatives
Although not part of the key responsibilities for this role, the candidate may be required to provide ad-hoc support to the Pricing team on the following tasks:
- Pricing assessment of cross-class portfolio opportunities
- Assistance with MI, Reporting and Rate monitoring
- Individual Account Pricing support to other lines of business.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Numerical degree
- Qualified Actuary
- Pricing experience within General Insurance
- Marine experience desirable
- Data manipulation and technical modelling skills
- Coding experience desirable
- Ability to lead projects and influence senior decision makers.
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
