Ultrasound Technologist - Vascular

The Ultrasound Technologist 1 is responsible for performing sonographic procedures by the application of ultrasound to produce images under a variety of conditions.

Job Relationships

Reports to the Advanced Imaging Operations Manager

Principal Responsibilities

• Produce quality sonograms.
• Good knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
• Identify pathology and provide physician with accurate measurements.
• Know the capabilities of the equipment.
• Operate dry laser printer.
• Prepare sonogram films for physician interpretation.
• Responsible for obtaining outside previous or comparison films.
• Obtain complete history from patient.
• Keep log of all patients.
• Must be able to adapt to flexible working hours.
• Use of computers and telephone required.
• Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures.
• Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy.
• Provide excellent customer service and adhere to Springfield Clinic's Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

Professional Affiliations: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers; American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (optional)

Must have one (1) corresponding specialty credential that is pertinent to the work area specified

• A. For Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Abdomen, Breast, Obstetrics and Gynecology) or
• B. For Vascular Technology (Vascular (RVT))

Licenses/Certificates

• Must have active registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. (ARDMS).
• CPR certification per American Heart Association guidelines within 30 days of hire.

• Must possess manual dexterity to use keyboard and handle equipment and appliances.
• Must be capable of pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, lifting and twisting.
• Must be able with help to lift patient as needed.
• Must be able to work with arms above head.
• Must be able to wear lead apron for long periods of time.
• Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time while using transducers for scanning.
• Must be able to assist patient to and from the table.

Working Environment

• Will be exposed to fumes from cleaning agents or x-ray film processor chemicals, in limited areas.
• Will be exposed to conditions including exposure to blood and body fluids, tissue, contagious diseases and/or potentially hazardous materials.
• Occasional heavy lifting required.
