Cobol Developer

Overview:
One of the biggest banks in the European Union is seeking a Cobol Developer to help the team that is developing a system that is a vital legacy platform that processes several million of daily transactions, enabling settlement and delivery of client instructions on the UK market and maintaining accurate client‑account positions.
What will you do?

Translate business needs into clear technical specs and develop/maintain legacy COBOL code.
Use AI‑assisted tools to understand, refactor, and safely modify impacted components.
Build and keep unit/integration test suites; support acceptance‑test planning and execution.
Support the team in adopting modern tooling – introduce AI‑driven data validation, CI/CD pipelines, and advanced monitoring to enhance system security and performance.
Document changes, manage version control, and ensure compliance with security and regulatory standards.

What are we looking for?

4+ years of relevant professional experience
Expertise in Microfocus COBOL
Familiarity with PowerHouse (4GL) and/or Eloquence (Marxmeier) technologies.
Hands‑on experience with DevOps tools (e.g., Ansible, ToolChain) and Git version‑control.
Background in the financial sector.
Experience working in Agile environments
Fluent in English.
