About the Role

Operations Engineering sits at the intersection of product design, manufacturing, and quality — serving as the engineering backbone that brings medical devices from concept into reliable, high-volume production. Our team is responsible for ensuring that production equipment, processes, and tooling meet the rigorous standards required in a regulated medical device environment.

As MiniMed continues to scale and innovate in diabetes care technology, Operations Engineering plays a critical role in launching new production lines, optimizing existing processes, and maintaining the validated state of our manufacturing systems. Engineers on this team collaborate closely with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to deliver products to the patients who depend on them every day.

We are looking for a motivated, detail-oriented engineer at the start of their career who is passionate about mechanical design and eager to develop into a well-rounded manufacturing engineer. This role is heavily centered on SolidWorks drafting, drawing creation, and fixture design — with exposure to the broader world of process engineering, validation, and continuous improvement. You'll be embedded in a team that prioritizes mentorship, hands-on learning, and professional growth.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

Full time on-site role in Northridge, CA

• Create, revise, and maintain detailed engineering drawings in SolidWorks, ensuring compliance with GD&T standards, dimensioning conventions, and MiniMed drawing requirements
• Assist in the design and development of custom fixtures, jigs, and tooling used in production, prototyping, and test setups — from initial concept sketches through released drawings
• Support engineering change orders (ECOs) by updating drawings, BOMs, and related documentation through the revision control process
• Build and maintain SolidWorks part files, assemblies, and configurations for production tooling, equipment components, and design concepts
• Incorporate feedback from senior engineers and cross-functional partners into drawing revisions; participate in design reviews to develop engineering judgment
• Maintain accurate and organized engineering records, including drawing files, design history documentation, and supporting calculations, in compliance with applicable quality system requirements
• Actively seek mentorship from senior engineers; pursue growth in areas such as tolerance analysis, DFM, materials selection, automation, and manufacturing processes
• Assist with equipment qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) by supporting test execution, collecting data, recording observations, and compiling results under the direction of senior engineers
• Work alongside quality, manufacturing, and senior engineers to support lean manufacturing opportunities.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

• Travel up to 20-30% domestic and international

Nice To Have

• Internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing, product development, or engineering environment
• Exposure to tolerance stack-up analysis or Design for Manufacturability (DFM) concepts
• Ability to read, interpret, and mark up mechanical engineering drawings
• Demonstrated ability to create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed 2D engineering drawings — through coursework, internships, or personal projects utilizing Solidworks
• Foundational understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles and how they are applied on engineering drawings
• Ability to maintain organized, accurate engineering files and records
• Clear written and verbal communication skills — able to ask good questions, document decisions, and present work to the team
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$57,000.00 - $97,000.00

For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $57,000 - $97,000 USD.

Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Short Term Incentive (STI).
