Research Lab Tech III / Supervisor

The Leonardo Morsut Lab in the Department of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is seeking a motivated and highly organized Research Lab Technician III. The laboratory develops synthetic biology approaches for engineering cell signaling, controlling cell–cell communication, and creating complex multicellular tissues.
The Research Lab Technician III will support the laboratory’s research activities by planning and conducting experiments in accordance with established laboratory procedures and safety protocols. The successful candidate will work closely with the principal investigator and other laboratory members, maintain accurate research records, analyze experimental data, and assist with the daily operation of the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities

• Plans, conducts, and evaluates research experiments under the direction of the principal investigator.
• Performs cell culture, molecular biology, protein analysis, microscopy, and other laboratory procedures relevant to assigned projects.
• Prepares samples, reagents, media, solutions, and experimental materials.
• Collects, analyzes, documents, and presents experimental data.
• Maintains complete and accurate laboratory records and research documentation.
• Operates, maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment.
• Monitors laboratory supply inventory and purchases materials as needed.
• Ensures compliance with laboratory safety requirements and established research protocols.
• Assists with the development and improvement of experimental methods and procedures.
• Trains and provides technical guidance to students, researchers, and other laboratory personnel.
• Coordinates with laboratory members and collaborators to support ongoing research projects.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, molecular biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
• Relevant laboratory research experience.
• Experience with mammalian cell culture and standard molecular and cellular biology techniques is preferred.
• Strong organizational, analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, maintain attention to detail, and meet project deadlines.

The Morsut Lab offers a collaborative and multidisciplinary research environment at the intersection of synthetic biology, stem cell biology, developmental biology, and tissue engineering. This position provides an opportunity to contribute to innovative research focused on understanding and engineering multicellular systems.
The hourly rate range for this position is $31.21 - $38.00. Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree And Specialized/technical training
Addtional Education Requirements Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
Minimum Experience: 3 years
Minimum Skills: Fully competent and proficient in the operation of sophisticated scientific equipment and independently able to perform complex procedures and techniques with accuracy.
Preferred Education: Master's degree
Preferred Skills: Advanced knowledge of research procedures, equipment and analysis methods.
