Job Description

Parsons has a career opportunity for an amazingly talentedCBA -Environmental TechnicianVtojoin our team! In thisroleyou willsupportvarious aspects of environmental compliance monitoring and investigations at the Faro Mine Remediation Project(FMRP).

This role willreporttoEnvironmentalManager.This role is a rotational position(2 weekson & 2 weeksoff), 10 hours per day.

This is a unionized position represented by USW Local #925. Terms and conditions of employment are governed by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Union membership and dues will apply.

The hourly wage for this position is $37.78

The FMRP,locatedin Faro, Yukon, is one of the largest and most complex abandoned mine remediation projects in Canada. Faro islocated4 hours northeast of Whitehorse, Yukon, and currently has a population of approximately 350 people. Furnished housing will beprovided,you willbe requiredto prepare your own meals during the shift on Site. Flights to Whitehorse, travel between Whitehorse and Faro, and daily transportation to and from the Mine Site to Faro will be provided.

What You'll Be Doing

• -
• Proficient in data collection, water quality monitoring, collecting samples,andgeotechnicalmonitoring;
• -
• Perform construction inspection, waste management, air quality monitoring, and spill response.
• -
• Complete QA/QC of field work and documentation
• -
• Compile environmental and geotechnical reports
• -
• Lead yellow alert investigations and reporting
• -
• Manage trackers and support daily planning and coordination
• -
• Act as primary point of contact for field questions and observations
• -
• Support the Environmental Manager’s responsibilities when they are unavailable.
• -
• Review contractor/C&M documents andpermitting;participatein contractor weekly meetings
• -
• Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• -
• UtilizeEQuISfor data management and reporting
• -
• Report any outstanding observations / findings from the field toEnvironmentalManager;
• -
• Preparefieldnotes, checklists, observation logs, and photo logsforreview;
• -
• Useappropriate equipmentto complete various monitoringtasks;
• -
• Perform other duties as assignedbyEnvironmentalManager.

What QualificationsYouNeed

-

Post-secondary education (degree or technologist diploma) in Environmental Sciences,Environmental Engineering,Earth Sciences, Biology, Geotechnical Engineering,Forestry,Hydrogeology,or related fields. Candidates with considerable training and experience may be equally considered.

What RequiredExperience andSkills You'll Bring

Remote mine site field work experiencepreferred;

Effective communicationskill isa must, both verbally andwritten;

Proficient computer skills–Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint,Access,etc.);

Self-motivated,andability to work independently and as part of ateam;

A strong senseof Health and Safety, and attention to detail isrequired;

Ability tolift upto 20kg;

-

Ability tocomfortablyworkoutdoors in various weather conditions including rain,snow, heat,extremecold, etc.isamust;

Valid class 5 driver’s license; and

-

Experiencewithoperating equipment including ATVs,snowmobile, and power boats is an asset.
