<p>As a  Financial Controller you will be <strong>responsible and accountable for all accounting, audit, and financial reporting functions</strong> at BRKZ. This is <strong>not a traditional, high-level oversight or advisory position</strong>. We are <strong>looking for a builder, someone who will operate directly in the trenches</strong>, <strong>establish robust financial processes, strengthen internal controls, and actively develop our finance team</strong> as the company continues to scale rapidly. </p>
<p>The ideal candidate has <strong>strong knowledge of Saudi accounting, tax, zakat, VAT, audit, and regulatory requirements</strong>, with experience in fast-paced companies. Startup experience is highly preferred, and experience in construction, contracting, building materials, or marketplace businesses is a strong plus.</p>
<h2><span style="color: rgb(0, 149, 168);"><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></span></h2>
<ul>
<li><strong>Own the full accounting function</strong>, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, accruals, reconciliations, payroll accounting, and monthly closing.</li>
<li><strong>Lead the month-end and year-end closing process</strong>, ensuring timely, accurate, and complete financial statements.</li>
<li>Prepare and review management reports, financial statements, and reporting packs for leadership, investors, banks, auditors, and other stakeholders.</li>
<li><strong>Own the external audit process end to end</strong>, including preparation of audit schedules, coordination with auditors, resolution of audit comments, and timely issuance of audited financial statements.</li>
<li><strong>Ensure compliance with all applicable Saudi laws and requirements</strong>, including tax, zakat, VAT, withholding tax, e-invoicing, accounting standards, and regulatory filings.</li>
<li><strong>Strengthen internal controls</strong> across finance, procurement, payments, collections, revenue recognition, inventory-related processes, and expense management.</li>
<li><strong>Build scalable finance processes</strong>, policies, approval workflows, and reporting structures suitable for a high-growth startup.</li>
<li>Work closely with business, operations, credit, procurement, and commercial teams to ensure financial data is accurate and properly reflected in the accounts.</li>
<li>Monitor receivables, payables, collections, supplier payments, working capital, and cash reporting.</li>
<li>Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis by providing reliable actuals and clear explanations of financial performance.</li>
<li><strong>Identify gaps in systems, controls, and processes, then take ownership of fixing them directly</strong>.</li>
<li><strong>Build, manage, and develop the accounting and finance operations team</strong> as the company scales.</li>
<li>Support ERP, accounting system, and finance automation initiatives.</li>
</ul>
<h2><span style="color: rgb(0, 149, 168);"><strong>Requirements</strong></span></h2>
<ul>
<li><strong>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field</strong>.</li>
<li><strong>Professional certification such as SOCPA, CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent</strong> is preferred.</li>
<li><strong>Strong knowledge of Saudi accounting, tax, zakat, VAT, audit, and compliance requirements</strong>.</li>
<li>Strong technical accounting skills and ability to prepare accurate financial statements.</li>
<li><strong>Experience owning accounting, audit, and reporting functions end to end</strong>.</li>
<li>Prior experience in a <strong>startup</strong>, scale-up, marketplaces, fintech, construction, contracting, or building materials business is highly preferred.</li>
<li>Experience in construction or a related sector is a strong plus.</li>
<li>Previous Big 4 experience is a plus.</li>
<li><strong>Strong Arabic and English communication skills</strong> are required.</li>
<li><strong>Strong command of Excel and accounting or ERP systems</strong>.</li>
<li>Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.</li>
<li><strong>High attention to detail, strong ownership, and strong execution mindset</strong>.</li>
<li>Comfortable working directly on the details, not only managing or reviewing others’ work.</li>
<li>Strong leadership and team management skills</li>
