Job Description Summary
The Functional Property Accountant is responsible for supporting a U.S. office real estate portfolio, focused on specific functional areas within the accounting cycle and other recurring transactional processes for an assigned group of properties and entities. This role does not carry full-cycle accounting ownership; instead, it executes defined tasks accurately and on schedule, working closely with the onshore accounting team in the U.S. to keep monthly close activities on track. The ideal candidate brings foundational accounting knowledge, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple recurring processes across properties in a fast-paced environment. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity to build accounting experience with a leading organization in the office real estate sector.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations (property, corporate, and pool-level) and support cash management for assigned entities
- Handle day-to-day rent collection, posting, and reconciliation activities while meeting all department deadlines and coordinate with the onshore team when needed
- Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations and monthly financial statement report packages for assigned entities
- Maintain property tax workbooks and trial balance updates, prepare payment submission packages for onshore review, and post and reconcile monthly property tax accruals and prepayments for assigned properties
- Prepare and post recurring insurance and environmental insurance entries, including monthly accruals and prepaid amortization, and reconcile related accounts for assigned properties
- Maintain hotel property trial balance uploads/comparisons and support debt pool holding company entity accounting
- Prepare and post ground lease journal entries for assigned properties
- Reconcile garage revenue and related expenses monthly
- Perform monthly straight-line rent true-ups by reconciling the manual straight-line rent file against the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) summary report and posting adjusting entries
- Prepare and post monthly elimination journal entries for intercompany balances and activity across assigned entities, and reconcile intercompany accounts to confirm balances agree and eliminate fully in consolidation
- Support ad hoc requests as needed
Required Experience
Education
- University/College Accounting degree consistent with local market expectations for role
- Accounting certifications consistent with local market expectations for role
Experience
- 2-3 years of accounting experience preferred
- Exposure to recurring transactional accounting processes such as bank reconciliations, journal entry preparation, cash application, or account reconciliations
- Experience working to defined monthly close deadlines within a structured, controls-based process
- Real estate or property accounting experience is a plus
- Experience in a GCC (Global Capability Center), shared services, or BPO environment supporting a US-based team is strongly preferred
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of Department Policies, Processes, and Procedures

- Ability to follow documented procedures accurately and consistently across recurring monthly processes
- Software Tools & Applications: Strong MS Excel skills required; familiarity with ERP and accounting systems such as MRI is preferred
