Cloud Application Architect

Lead the application architecture for a time-critical banking modernisation programme. The role will define practical, secure and scalable designs across APIs, microservices, event-driven integration and data services, while guiding delivery teams through implementation. Key responsibilities Define the target application and integration architecture and convert it into clear delivery patterns. Design secure APIs, microservices, event flows, data access and legacy coexistence solutions. Guide teams integrating core banking, trading, reporting and reconciliation platforms. Review solution designs and code for scalability, resilience, security and operational readiness. Resolve cross-team technical dependencies and support timely architecture decisions. Work with product, engineering, QA, DevOps and client architecture teams through delivery and handover. Required skills Strong experience as an application or solution architect on complex enterprise programmes. Hands-on knowledge of C#, .NET, REST APIs, microservices and event-driven architecture. Experience with public cloud, preferably Microsoft Azure, containers and Kubernetes. Good understanding of API gateways, Kafka or similar messaging platforms, SQL and data integration. Knowledge of identity, security, observability, CI/CD and production support requirements. Ability to make clear architecture decisions and explain them to technical and business teams. Experience in banking, payments, trading or another regulated industry is preferred. Experience Typically 10+ years in software delivery, including significant architecture leadership experience.
