Steel Shipping Supervisor – Loadout Operations

Starting Pay: $26.00/hour, with higher pay available based on experience

Position Summary

Hiring a Steel Shipping Supervisor to coordinate the movement and shipment of structural steel from the fabrication facility. This role combines hands-on material handling with team leadership, shipment coordination, documentation, and safety oversight.

What You’ll Do

• Direct daily steel loadout and shipping activities.
• Confirm steel is properly identified, positioned, secured, and ready for delivery.
• Check material markings, load contents, and shipping paperwork for accuracy.
• Work with logistics, production, and shop personnel to keep deliveries on schedule.
• Complete load tickets and maintain shipping records using production/shipping software.
• Train and assist new employees with department procedures and equipment.
• Lead daily safety discussions and reinforce required safety practices.
• Monitor workflow and recommend improvements to shipping and loadout processes.
• Provide hands-on direction to the team in a busy structural steel manufacturing environment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in structural steel shipping or material handling.
• 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
• Experience operating:
• Overhead cranes
• Telehandlers
• Vertical mast lifts
• Forklifts
• Familiarity with Tekla EPMgo or similar production/shipping software preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to prioritize multiple loads, deadlines, and production requirements.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, accuracy, and quality.
