Structural Steel Material Handler – Cocoa Beach, FL

Job Type: Contract-to-Hire

Shifts: 1st and 2nd Shift

• Starting Pay: $22/hour — higher depending on experience
• 2nd Shift Differential: +$3/hour

Position Overview

Seeking a versatile Material Handler to support structural steel operations in both the yard and shop. This hands-on role involves moving and staging materials, operating lifting and material-handling equipment, assisting production, and keeping materials organized and ready for shipment.

What You'll Do

• Move, stage, load, and unload structural steel throughout the yard and facility.
• Operate overhead cranes to safely handle steel and other heavy materials.
• Use forklifts and Pettibone/telehandler equipment for material transport.
• Jockey trailers and help maintain an organized yard.
• Assist with skidding materials and preparing loads for shipment.
• Operate machinery as needed to support shop and production activities.
• Clean parts and materials to keep them ready for use.
• Help track inventory, supplies, and material movement.
• Work with outside crews and other departments to keep operations moving efficiently.
• Follow equipment operating procedures and all required safety practices.
• Maintain dependable attendance and a strong, team-focused work ethic.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience operating overhead cranes.
• Experience with Pettibone/telehandler equipment.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and other industrial equipment.
• Material handling or warehouse experience preferred.
• Some experience working with structural steel.
• Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and move heavy materials safely.
• Able to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and organization.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Manufacturing or industrial experience is a plus.
• Willingness to learn additional equipment and responsibilities.
