Per Diem

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Central Transport Manager, the Transporter will provide safe and efficient transport of patients to nursing units, ancillary departments, patient rooms, diagnostic areas, and other areas of the hospital

• Safe and efficient transport of patients to all areas of the hospital.
• Transport charts and specimens in an efficient and confidential manner.
• Rounding of Oxygen tanks on a daily basis and posses ability to inspect gauges to determine when an oxygen tank and/or regulator needs servicing.
• Use of proper log-in log-out procedures using the Tele Tracking automated system.
• Proper use of IVR for all trips.
• Respond to transport trip request within 10 minutes from the time the trip alert is relayed to the beeper with proper equipment and linens.
• Verify patient identity by checking Patients Name, D.O.B and Medical Record Number on wristband verifying it to the patient's chart. Following the second step procedure by asking patient their name and D.O.B. Assuring that no patient is taken from the unit without a patient wrist band.
• Reviewing the Stamford Hospital Express Pass with the RN’s and properly communicating patient information with testing department.
• Maintain and clean all transportation equipment based on established infection control guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
