Job Summary

As an Electrical Engineer Intern at Honeywell Aerospace, in West Edinburgh, you will work within our Space Mission team, working on cutting edge quantum and lunar space missions that will help shape the future of communications, contributing to the development of secure quantum and RF communication systems. This role offers hands-on experience in a cutting-edge international space project.

This role is part of our University Relations program, designed to help students and recent graduates launch their careers with hands-on experience, mentorship, and opportunities for growth within Honeywell. This internship is set up for 12 months, starting from summer 2027, and is for an industrial placement for those currently studying a degree.

Key responsibilities

You will work closely with experienced professionals, as well as an assigned buddy, to gain hands-on experience within a friendly and supportive team to be trained to achieve the following:

• Assist in developing software/hardware for QKD or RF payloads and ground systems.
• Support automated testing and quality assurance processes.
• Assist in the design, testing, and validation of electronic circuits and systems.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
• Participate in the development of technical documentation and specifications.

Key skills and qualifications

We are seeking someone with a passion for Electronics and Space as an industry, if that sounds like you, please read on!

• Resides within an easy commute of our West Edinburgh offices during either term time or study breaks
• Full right to work in the UK without the need of sponsorship now or in the future, (should you be offered a permanent role)
• Currently studying towards a degree requiring a work placement in Engineering, Electronics, Electrical or Communications Engineering, graduating in 2029
• Experience in electronic circuit design & analysis, (this can be from a project, a hobby or work experience)
• A familiarity with simulation and design tools such as SPICE or MATLAB
• Experience with PCB design and layout tools
