Microsoft 365 Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Microsoft 365 Engineer to help operate, secure, and continuously improve our Microsoft 365 environment. You will collaborate with infrastructure, security, and business teams to deliver reliable collaboration and productivity services.

The scope of responsibilities will be aligned with your experience and strengths, with opportunities to contribute across service administration, automation, security, and workplace modernisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and optimise Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
• Manage user identities, groups, licences, and access in collaboration with identity and security teams.
• Support identity integration with Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory, including hybrid environments where applicable.
• Maintain mail flow, shared mailboxes, distribution groups, and email security configurations.
• Configure and support collaboration services, external sharing, and guest access.
• Implement and maintain security and compliance policies in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
• Monitor service health, troubleshoot incidents, and coordinate escalations with Microsoft support.
• Automate administrative tasks and reporting using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph.
• Contribute to migrations, service enhancements, and the rollout of new Microsoft 365 capabilities.
• Assess service changes and coordinate testing, communication, and implementation.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and configuration standards.
• Support service desk teams and promote effective adoption of Microsoft 365 services.

Required Skills and Experience

• Practical experience administering Microsoft 365 services in an enterprise environment.
• Working knowledge of Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, authentication, and access management.
• Understanding of Microsoft 365 licensing and user lifecycle management.
• Experience with PowerShell scripting and administrative automation.
• Understanding of security fundamentals, including multifactor authentication, least privilege, and data protection.
• Familiarity with email technologies and networking fundamentals, including DNS, SMTP, and TLS.
• A structured approach to troubleshooting and a service-oriented mindset.
• Ability to collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Good written and spoken English, including technical documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with hybrid Exchange environments or Microsoft 365 migrations.
• Familiarity with Conditional Access, privileged access management, and identity governance.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Defender for Office 365 and Microsoft Purview capabilities.
• Experience with retention policies, data loss prevention, and eDiscovery.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Graph API and certificate-based automation.
• Exposure to Microsoft Teams Phone, meeting room solutions, or enterprise voice services.
• Understanding of Power Platform governance and administration.
• Relevant Microsoft certifications are an advantage.
