Buyer I

The Buyer I performs entry level professional purchasing procedures in the acquisition of goods and services from a variety of vendors. This role will serve as a liaison between the Procurement department and internal and external customers.

• Correspond with vendors concerning price changes, contract adjustments, terminations, item values, and schedule changes
• Work with higher level employees to develops timelines and conducts acquisition in compliance with procurement policy and contractual requirements
• Prepare solicitation requests and assists with the development of specifications
• Coordinate completion of annual vendor representations and certifications
• Assist in conducting analysis of the quality and performance of goods, supplies, equipment, and/or services; and in performing cost/benefit, life cycle costing and/or commodity standardization studies
• Participate in department improvement activities
• Research contract history and related contract agreements
• Assist in identifying vendor performance requirements by reviewing the performance capability of vendors and evaluating goods and services, and sourcing vendors for assigned commodities

Experience

• No experience is required. OR (4) years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree.
• Related Field of Study (Bachelor's degree)
