We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join Oxford Nanopore Technologies as a Data Delivery Lead. ou'll coordinate the work of the Data Scientists reporting to you, working with stakeholders and alongside the Data Engineering team.

The Details...

The FTC 18 month Data Services Delivery Lead is responsible for coordinating delivery across the Data Services portfolio, ensuring work is effectively prioritised, planned, communicated and progressed across multiple business functions.

The role provides hands-on leadership of delivery processes, portfolio planning, roadmap visibility and stakeholder communication. It acts as the link between Data Services leadership, technical delivery teams and business stakeholders, ensuring priorities are clear, dependencies and risks are actively managed, and delivery remains predictable.

The role does not require ownership of overall Data Services strategy, but will be expected to identify issues requiring strategic or leadership decisions and escalate them appropriately.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate planning and delivery across the Data Services portfolio.

• Maintain a clear view of current, upcoming and longer-term work across business functions.
• -
• Facilitate regular delivery planning, stand-ups, prioritisation and review sessions.
• -
• Maintain portfolio timelines, milestones and delivery information within Jira and associated roadmap tools.
• -
• Work with technical teams to understand capacity, estimates, dependencies and delivery risks.
• -
• Identify delivery blockers and coordinate actions required to resolve them.
• -
• Support effective prioritisation of incoming demand against existing commitments and available capacity.
• -
• Ensure agreed Data Services project and delivery frameworks are consistently applied, while allowing teams appropriate autonomy in how work is delivered.
• -
• Provide stakeholders with clear, regular communication on priorities, progress, timelines, risks and changes.
• -
• Coordinate dependencies between Data Services teams, business stakeholders and other technology teams.
• -
• Monitor delivery performance and identify where intervention or escalation is required.
• -
• Support portfolio-level reporting and communication to Data Services and Global IT leadership.
• -
• Escalate significant scope, priority, resource or stakeholder conflicts to the appropriate senior leader.
• -
• Identify opportunities to improve delivery processes, portfolio visibility and ways of working.

Skills and Experience

Essential

• -
• Strong experience coordinating delivery across multiple concurrent projects or workstreams.
• -
• Experience working with technical, data, analytics or software delivery teams.
• -
• Strong project, programme, delivery management or agile delivery skills.
• -
• Experience using Jira or similar tools to manage work, timelines and dependencies.
• -
• Ability to translate detailed delivery activity into clear portfolio-level information.
• -
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• -
• Ability to work effectively with both technical specialists and senior business stakeholders.
• -
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demands.
• -
• Ability to identify risks, dependencies and blockers and drive them through to resolution.
• -
• Comfortable operating with autonomy and making day-to-day delivery decisions within an agreed strategic direction.

• Experience using BI Tools (preferably Tableau or Databricks)

• SQL and Python experience

• Experience in a Data, Analytics, Data Science or Data Engineering environment.

• Experience implementing or improving delivery frameworks and operating models.
