What we are looking for
We are seeking an experienced accounting professional to join our team in Ortigas, Manila as Property Accountant Team Leader on a fixed-term maternity leave cover contract. Reporting to the Financial Controller in Brisbane, Australia, this role is primarily responsible for leading the Manila AP and AR team, ensuring key finance processes operate efficiently and supporting selected month-end reporting activities for our Australian property portfolios.

About the role
The primary purpose of this role is to lead the Manila AP and AR team and ensure key finance processes are completed accurately, efficiently and within agreed deadlines. The role also provides support to the wider Finance Team through selected month-end reporting activities.
Key responsibilities are
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead and support the Manila Real Estate Finance Team, including workload allocation, review of outputs, day-to-day coaching and development of team members, while promoting accountability and consistent finance processes.
- Work closely with the Financial Controller, the Brisbane Finance Team, Property Managers, Tenants and other stakeholders to resolve AP, AR and related operational matters.
- Mange team priorities, ensure key deadlines are met and support an orderly handover at the commencement and conclusion of the contract.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Assist with month-end close activities relevant to AP and AR, including journals, accruals, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
- Prepare or review AP and AR-related balance sheet reconciliations and promptly follow up reconciling items.
- Provide accurate financial information and supporting documentation to assist the Brisbane Finance Team with month-end reporting.
AP, AR & General Ledger
- Prepare and import AP- and AR-related journals into MRI, as required, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded.
- Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment runs, supplier and tenant queries, tenant receipts and allocations, outstanding receivables and account reconciliations and escalation of unresolved matters.
- Oversee bank reconciliations for AP and AR accounts and ensure discrepancies are investigated and resolved promptly.
- Prepare and review AP- and AR-related schedules, including prepayments and other relevant balance sheet support, as allocated.
Controls, Audit & Compliance
- Ensure AP and AR processes comply with company policies, internal controls and applicable accounting requirements.
- Support the Brisbane Finance Team during annual audits by providing AP and AR documentation and explanations as required.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify process gaps and opportunities to improve efficiency and standardize accounting practices.
- Support the resolution of system and transaction issues across MRI, myBuildings and other finance systems.
- Assist with the implementation of process improvements across the Manila Finance Team.
About you
We are seeking a professional, confident and highly organised individual who combines strong AP and AR experience with effective leadership and communication skills. The successful candidate will be able to quickly understand existing processes, build trusted relationships across the Manila and Brisbane teams and provide stability throughout the cover period.
Job-Specific Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on AP and AR experience and at least 2 years in a supervisory or team leader role.
- Experience in property, funds management or a similar multi-entity environment would be advantageous.
- A history of improving finance processes and a thorough understanding of control
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, alongside experience with real estate-focused accounting software such as MRi, Nexus, MyBuildings or similar platforms.
