Purchasing Agent

THE OPPORTUNITY

RH is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to support our Dennis & Leen/Formations workshop in Torrance, California. Based within our luxury furniture finishing and custom manufacturing facility, this role will source the inventory, materials and supplies essential to production and operations. The Purchasing Specialist will strengthen domestic and international vendor partnerships, optimize cost and efficiency, and ensure the quality, accuracy and compliance of purchasing activities across the business.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead sourcing of stock inventory, raw materials, hardware, finishes, and operational supplies from domestic and international vendors.
• Evaluate bids and negotiate pricing, terms, conditions, lead times, and delivery schedules.
• Cultivate productive relationships with existing manufacturers and vendors while identifying new partnerships that improve quality, efficiency, and cost.
• Manage purchase orders and logistics, tracking orders through completion and delivery.
• Collaborate with the production team and Office Coordinator to reconcile inventory in Odoo ERP, maintain office supply inventory, and forecast purchasing needs.
• Maintain accurate item master records, including manufacturer part numbers, order modifiers, and charge accounts, and address quality issues involving incoming stock.
• Support Export Control & Customs classifications and ensure purchasing activities comply with applicable U.S. import and export regulations, government agency requirements, and internal control policies; complete special projects and other assigned responsibilities as needed.

OUR REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or purchasing, preferably within luxury furniture, woodworking, or high-end manufacturing.
• Proven success sourcing raw materials, hardware, and finishes domestically and internationally.
• Proficiency with Odoo ERP and Microsoft Excel for inventory management, purchasing analysis, and forecasting.
• Working knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, import and export compliance, and Export Control & Customs classifications.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation capabilities, with the ability to secure optimal pricing, lead times, and contract terms.
• Established vendor relationships that can support effective domestic and international sourcing.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to move throughout a furniture-finishing shop and warehouse to inspect incoming raw materials and stock.
• Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull, or carry inventory and material samples weighing up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to frequently sit and work at a computer, with periods of standing, walking, bending, and reaching to assess inventory levels.
• Visual acuity and attention to detail sufficient to conduct quality inspections of luxury wood finishes, fabrics, and hardware.
• Ability to work in an environment that may include wood dust and finishing odors while using appropriate personal protective equipment
