About The Role

Description of Job Duty

The Department of Decision Sciences and Management at Tennessee Tech University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 1, 2027. Teaching responsibilities will focus primarily on Human Resource Management. Preference will be given to candidates who can also contribute to the department’s teaching needs in Strategic Management, International Management, or related areas. Minimum qualifications include 1) a doctoral degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Strategic Management, or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution (ABDs nearing completion may be considered if the degree will be granted by July 31, 2027), 2) excellent teaching and communication skills, 3) an ability to publish research in peer-reviewed journals. Preferred qualifications include 1) experience teaching in-person, online, and/or hybrid courses, 2) experience engaging students in meaningful experiential activities, 3) ability to contribute to strategic college, university, and societal initiatives, and 4) related professional work experience and/or related professional certifications.

Essential Functions

Responsibilities for the position may include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and teaching in face-to-face and online environments. All tenure-track faculty in the College of Business are expected to maintain a level of scholarly activity to qualify as Scholarly Academics in AACSB reporting. The College of Business values engagement with the local and regional business communities, as well as service to the department, university, and profession.

Our department is home to approximately 500 students, and we offer majors in Business Management, Business & Information Technology, and Business AI & Analytics. Within Business Management, we offer concentrations in General Management, Human Resource Management, and Operations & Supply Chain Management. We also provide graduate courses to support the College's MBA Program and graduate-level certificates.

Salary

Commensurate with education and experience.

Benefits Info

Benefits include the accumulation of one (1) sick leave day per month and thirteen (13) University holidays. Other benefits include medical and life insurance (shared cost with the university), retirement, optional 401k, and educational benefits. Deferred income and benefits over 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include 1) experience teaching in-person, online, and/or hybrid courses, 2) ability to engage students in meaningful experiential activities, and 3) prior professional experience and/or HR certifications.
