The Opportunity

A well-established building services contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join their team based in Dartford.

The business delivers a diverse range of mechanical and electrical building services projects across the education, healthcare, commercial, living and leisure sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join a growing business, working on a varied portfolio of projects and playing a key role within the pre-construction and estimating function.

The Role

As a Senior Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and commercially competitive estimates and tenders for a range of electrical building services projects.

You will work closely with the pre-construction, commercial, design and project teams to ensure tenders are thoroughly reviewed, accurately priced and submitted within required deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical estimates and tenders from initial enquiry through to submission.
• Review electrical drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documentation.
• Produce accurate material, labour, plant and subcontractor costs.
• Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and specialist subcontractors.
• Identify risks, exclusions, qualifications and commercial opportunities.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, clients and consultants throughout the tender process.
• Work closely with design and pre-construction teams to develop cost-effective electrical solutions.
• Attend tender meetings and site visits where required.
• Ensure tenders are completed accurately and submitted within agreed deadlines.
• Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost savings.
• Maintain accurate estimating records.
• Assist with the successful handover of projects to the commercial and project teams.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical building services estimating and be confident managing tenders from initial review through to submission.

You will ideally have

• Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator or Senior Electrical Estimator.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services.
• Experience estimating commercial building services projects.
• The ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Strong understanding of labour, material, plant and subcontractor costs.
• Experience producing detailed and competitive tenders.
• Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively.
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and relevant estimating software.
• A professional, proactive and organised approach.
• Salary up to £85,000, depending on experience.
