Orthotic and Prosthetic Clinical Technician Lead

Under minimal supervision, is responsible for leading all O&P Techs in the fabrication and repair of orthoses or prostheses under the direction of the Manager and/or practitioner. Acts as a resource to staff by providing guidance on fabrication time frame and processes for O&P.

• Responsible for the supervision of fabrication of orthoses and prostheses; including pouring molds, rectifying positive models, CAD/CAM operation, thermoforming, laminating, contouring, sewing, gluing, soldering, welding, riveting, assembling, repairing, and refurbishing orthotic and prosthetic devices.
• Performs ordering and receiving of materials and supplies to maintain the inventory of items used during the fabrication process.
• Responsible for inspections of all machinery and maintenance.
• Responsible for quality control and work in progress (WIP) participating in all meetings.
• Responsible for tracking all projects due dates to ensure completion in the most effective and timely way.
• Responsible for keeping materials and expenses log.
• Coordinates PTO for all Techs and submits request to Manager.
• Provides education to patients on the application, use, care, and expected outcome for medical devices and products as indicated by the physician instructions and manufacturer's recommendations.
• Maintains Inventory of lab chemicals, and on- shelve DME items.
• Coordinates training and development for Lab Technicians.
• Responsible for placing all orders of materials. keeping track of Vendors' payments and processing invoices.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
• Responsible for the fabrication of orthoses and prostheses; including pouring molds, rectifying positive models, CAD/CAM operation, thermoforming, laminating, contouring, sewing, gluing, soldering, welding, riveting, assembling, repairing, and refurbishing orthotic and prosthetic devices.
• Provides education to patients on the application, use, care, and expected outcome for medical devices and products as indicated by the physician instructions and manufacturer's recommendations.
• Expert knowledge in operating Lab machinery and using Lab tools. knowledge of mechanical devices and processes.
• Expert Knowledge in working with textiles, composites, material properties and filling casts, vacuum forming or laminating, establishing initial trims and other functions.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to act as a team leader in all projects, setting a workflow to finish DME items on time.
• Ability to create a collaborative and respectful team environment and improve workflows.
