About the Role

This is a Part Time dual role, combining the responsibilities of both a Cook and Care Services Assistant. In this position, you will play an important role in supporting residents' nutritional wellbeing by preparing and serving meals, maintaining food safety standards, and delivering a positive dining experience through person-centred care.

As the Cook, you will prepare ingredients, assist with meal preparation and basic cooking tasks, ensure food safety and hygiene compliance, maintain kitchen equipment, and support the efficient operation of the kitchen.

As the Care Services Assistant, you will support residents during mealtimes, assist with meal service and dining room preparation, promote resident choice and dignity, and contribute to an enjoyable and inclusive dining experience.

Cook Duties

• Adhere to all food safety and hygiene legislation, regulations, and Bolton Clarke quality standards.
• Prepare ingredients for cooking, as well as non-cooked food items such as sandwiches and salads.
• Perform basic cooking tasks and assist senior cooks and chefs with meal preparation.
• Reheat and prepare meals as required, ensuring food is served at the correct temperature.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness, equipment, and work areas in accordance with food safety requirements.
• Assist with stock control and inventory management.
• Operate in a cost-effective manner to support kitchen budgeting requirements.

Care Services Assistant Duties

• Support residents through the delivery of person-centred care and dining services.
• Assist residents with meal choices, meal selection, and dining preferences.
• Consider individual dietary requirements, allergies, and food intolerances.
• Prepare and set up dining areas to meet residents' needs and preferences.
• Provide meal service and create a positive dining experience through empathy, kindness, and social engagement.
• Promote resident choice, independence, dignity, and respect at all times.
• Maintain accurate nutrition and dietary information as required.
• Assist with food preparation in accordance with the Food Safety Plan, Bolton Clarke Food Standards, and Dining Framework.
• Assist with kitchen stock maintenance and general dining service duties.

About You

To be successful in this dual role, you will demonstrate

• Previous experience in commercial catering, food service, aged care, hospital, hospitality, or restaurant environments (highly regarded).
• A Food Handler's Certificate (preferred).
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and food handling regulations.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• A compassionate, caring, and resident-focused approach.
• The ability to work well within a team and follow direction.
• Good time management skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Reliability and flexibility to work a variety of shifts.
• Valid working rights in Australia.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Police Check and/or NDIS Worker Screening Check prior to commencement.
