Internal job title: Senior Scientist II

Location: Basel, Switzerland

The Drug Disposition (DD) group within PK Sciences is seeking a highly motivated, multidisciplinary scientist to support drug discovery and development programs through the application of advanced in vitro ADME models. The successful candidate will bring expertise in complex cell-based systems and mechanistic investigations of drug disposition and drug-drug interactions (DDIs).

In this role, the scientist will develop, validate, and apply advanced in vitro models, including co-cultures, 3D cultures, organoids, and microfluidic platforms, to investigate mechanisms of drug disposition and assess DDI risk for novel drug candidates. This includes evaluating the inhibitory and induction potential of compounds toward drug-metabolizing enzymes and transport proteins. The successful candidate will drive the development and implementation of innovative cell-based DDI assays to expand and continuously enhance the in vitro assay portfolio.

Job Description

Key responsibilities

Performing existing assays, establishing new methodologies, analyzing and interpreting complex datasets, and effectively communicating study outcomes to multidisciplinary project teams.

The scientist will contribute to scientific strategy and decision-making by providing mechanistic insights that support candidate progression and regulatory submissions.

Responsibilities also include preparing technical reports, study summaries, and scientific documentation in compliance with quality standards and project timelines.

Essential Requirements

• -
• MSc or PhD in a relevant life science discipline.
• -
• Extensive hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays.
• -
• Experience with advanced in vitro models, including 3D cultures, organoids, or co-culture systems.
• -
• Strong understanding of ADME sciences and drug-drug interactions.
• -
• Experience with bioanalytical techniques in particular LC-MS/MS.
• -
• Proven ability to develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex in vitro assays.
• -
• Strong data analysis, interpretation, and scientific communication skills.
• -
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary project tea

Expected Annual Base Salary Range for role

76,300.00 - 141,700.00 CHF Annual

The base salary offered is determined based on gender-neutral objectives, such as relevant skills, competencies and experience in accordance with the Novartis pay setting policy and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically.

In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for a performance-based bonus depending on certain performance parameters.
