Senior Founding AI Engineer

About the Role

A founding senior AI engineer role focused on building the core intelligence layer for an early stage construction tech startup. You will work closely with product and users to prototype, deploy, and iterate state of the art computer vision and multimodal AI systems that handle real world, noisy construction documents.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement end to end AI systems focusing on the intelligence layer including data pipelines, modeling, and inference.

• Prototype models rapidly and iterate based on user feedback and production data.
• -
• Deploy production grade CV, LLM, and multimodal solutions that operate on heterogeneous inputs.
• -
• Collaborate with product and users to surface high impact problems and deliver practical AI solutions.
• -
• Handle pragmatic engineering work such as data labeling, ETL, and deployment tasks as needed.
• -
• Communicate progress and tradeoffs clearly with the team.

What We're Looking For

• -
• Applied computer vision and machine learning experience with hands on model development and production deployment.
• -
• Proven track record launching AI systems or core parts of a new product from 0 to 1.
• -
• Strong familiarity with CV, LLM and multimodal approaches and tooling.
• -
• Ability to iterate quickly and improve prototypes from user feedback and real data.
• -
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with a growth mindset.
• -
• Willingness to do practical engineering work as part of a small team.
• -
• Location in or willingness to relocate to the Bay Area and US work authorization.
• -
• Experience shipping initial AI prototypes and building end to end AI systems focusing on the intelligence layer in production.
• -
• Experience with multimodal data including images, text, and documents is desirable.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: 120,000 to 180,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship not available at this time.
