Research Scientist (Map Scalability)

Join Waymo, a leader in autonomous driving technology, as a Research Scientist focused on map scalability. In this role, you will tackle fundamental and applied research problems related to world understanding using advanced machine learning techniques. You will prototype and iterate on research ideas using Waymo's internal driving data, collaborate with engineering teams to scale and productionize solutions, and present your findings to a wide audience within Waymo and Alphabet.

• Résoudre des problèmes de recherche fondamentaux et appliqués liés à la compréhension du monde en utilisant des modèles de langage visuel (VLM), la modélisation générative et la reconstruction 3D à grande échelle.
• Prototyper et itérer sur diverses idées de recherche en utilisant les données de conduite internes de Waymo, et mettre à l'échelle et à la production des solutions de compréhension du monde en collaboration avec les équipes d'ingénierie.
• Présenter les résultats de la recherche à un large public au sein de Waymo et d'Alphabet, avec la possibilité de publier les résultats à la communauté de recherche.

• Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or in a similar discipline
• Strong ML software engineering skills in Python/C++ with an ability to rapidly prototype solutions
• Expert in either Foundational VLMs, Computer Vision or learning-based 3D reconstruction methods (3DGS, NeRF)
• 1-3+ years of experience in a related field
• Familiarity with major ML Frameworks (JAX, Tensorflow, Pytorch)
• Domain experience in the autonomous vehicle or simulation space
• Fundamentals in 3D vision and/or computer graphics
• Hands-on experience productionizing and scaling ML solutions beyond the research stage
• Publications at top-tier conferences like CVPR/ICCV/ECCV/ICLR/ICML/NeurIPS/IROS/CoRL etc
