Electrical Drafter / Designer - Control Systems

Position Summary

We are seeking an Electrical Drafter / Designer to support the design and documentation of industrial electrical control panels and automation systems.

This position will work closely with controls engineers, project managers, panel-shop personnel, and field installation teams to develop accurate panel layouts, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain electrical control-system drawings.
• Develop control panel layouts and enclosure drawings.
• Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and termination drawings.
• Develop and maintain bills of materials.
• Produce drawings for industrial control panels and automation systems.
• Update drawings based on engineering changes and field redlines.
• Prepare final as-built drawings and project documentation.
• Work with engineers to translate control-system concepts into production-ready drawings.
• Coordinate with panel builders to resolve drawing and fabrication questions.
• Support field installation teams with drawing updates and technical documentation.
• Maintain drawing standards, templates, symbols, and document-control procedures.
• Verify drawings for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
• Assist with component selection and panel layout optimization.
• Maintain organized electronic project files and revision histories.
• Experience with electrical drafting, design, controls, automation, or related technical drafting.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar electrical design software.
• Ability to read and create electrical schematics.
• Understanding of electrical control components and wiring practices.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple drawings and projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

• AutoCAD Electrical.
• UL508A control-panel design.
• PLC and automation systems.
• Industrial electrical schematics.
• Panel layouts and enclosure design.
• VFD and motor-control systems.
• Electrical bills of materials.
