Role Description

As a Clinical Informatics Specialist (CIS)—our internal title for Medical Scribes—you will serve as a core team member working side-by-side with primary care providers. You will handle real-time clinical documentation during patient encounters, allowing providers to give their full, uninterrupted attention to patient care.

Beyond live charting, you will complete training in value-based medicine, chronic condition documentation, and ICD-10/CPT coding to actively support care-gap closure.

Ideal for Pre-Health Pathways: This position provides paid, immersive clinical exposure and direct physician mentorship. It is an ideal launching pad for pre-med (MD/DO), PA, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or Health Science majors candidates seeking 1–2+ years of professional clinical experience.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Encounter Charting (80%): Accurately capture real-time patient visits in the EMR (HPI, ROS, Physical Exam, Assessment, and Plan). Assign CPT/ICD-10 codes and prepare clear After Visit Summaries.

Clinical Documentation Improvement (10%): Retrieve external medical records, leverage population health tools to identify documentation gaps, and help lead daily team huddles.

Administrative & Workflow Support (10%): Process orders and referrals, resolve clinical tasks, and keep clinic workflows running efficiently.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Strong working knowledge of medical terminology and common pharmaceuticals.
  • -
  • Excellent computer proficiency, active listening, and written/verbal communication skills.

  • Commitment to a minimum of 1 year in the role (2+ years strongly preferred).

  • Reliable, predictable on-site attendance during standard operating hours.
  • -
  • Full compliance with HIPAA and patient privacy regulations.
  • -
  • Valid US work authorization.
  • -
  • Must be able to work Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is

$17.00 - $25.65

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
