Patient Transporter - Operating Room

About The Role
- Provides essential support to the perioperative team by facilitating patient transport, assisting with operating room preparation and turnover, maintaining a clean and safe surgical environment, and supporting efficient workflow through supply management and coordination with ancillary departments.

Role Specific Responsibilities
- Greets, escorts, and transports patients and visitors to and from surgical areas in a courteous and professional manner.
- Assists surgical staff with operating room turnover, including room preparation between cases.
- Performs damp dusting in operating rooms prior to the start of scheduled procedures to support infection prevention standards.
- Cleans surgical rooms, including changing linens on inpatient beds as needed.
- Assists with pulling surgical instruments for cases and preparing operating rooms for upcoming procedures or the following day.
- Handles and transports surgical specimens to the laboratory in accordance with established protocols.
- Monitors portable oxygen tanks and replace empty tanks as necessary.
- Promotes cost‑effective practices through appropriate use of supplies, returning equipment to designated locations, reshelving unused supplies, and reporting equipment malfunctions.
- Assists with the retrieval of blood products from the Blood Bank following established procedures.
- Removes trash from surgical areas and communicates effectively with Sterile Processing and Environmental Services (EVS).
- Stocks and refills blanket warmers each morning, mid‑day, and prior to the end of shift.
- Assists EVS with cleaning the Operating Room Core, including wiping down sinks, mopping floors, removing trash, and cleaning unused equipment.
- Removes and transports empty boxes to designated disposal areas.
- Performs daily stocking of inner core supplies and fluid warmers to ensure case readiness.
