About The Role

The Group Tax & Treasury Manager plays a key role in supporting SolarAfrica's growth by ensuring strong treasury management, sound funding structures and effective tax compliance across the Group. The role helps safeguard the company's financial position, supports strategic decision-making and ensures the business is well positioned to achieve its long-term growth objectives.

Position of the job in the organisation

The Group Tax & Treasury Manager will report directly to the Head of Finance.

Principal responsibilities

Tax Management

  • Ensure tax compliance across all Group entities.
  • Review and submit VAT, provisional tax and income tax returns.
  • Manage SARS audits, queries and engagements.
  • Liaise with auditors and external tax advisors.
  • Drive tax planning and tax-efficient structuring initiatives.

Debt & Capital Management

  • Manage Group debt facilities, funding structures and lender relationships.
  • Maintain debt, loan and amortisation schedules.
  • Monitor debt repayments, funding obligations and covenant compliance.
  • Prepare lender reporting, financial models and cash flow forecasts.
  • Manage shareholder loans, guarantees and funding facilities.

Treasury Management

  • Manage Group treasury operations and banking relationships.
  • Oversee cash management structures and banking facilities.
  • Optimise Group liquidity and cash utilisation.
  • Prepare consolidated Group cash flow forecasts.
  • Present cash flow and funding updates to Management and Exco.

Intercompany Management

  • Maintain intercompany loan and balance schedules.
  • Reconcile intercompany balances across the Group.
  • Manage intercompany funding, finance income and finance costs.
  • Prepare elimination schedules for Group reporting.
  • Forecast intercompany funding requirements.

Reporting & Governance

  • Prepare reporting for lenders, shareholders, Management, Exco and the Board.
  • Ensure compliance with lender, shareholder and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor funding, liquidity and tax risks.
  • Support funding, refinancing and corporate finance initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement across treasury, tax and finance processes.
  • Any other job duties associated with this role.

Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Tax, Economics or related field.
  • CA(SA), CTA, or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
  • 7-10 years' experience in Group Tax, Treasury, Corporate Finance, Tax or Group Finance.
  • Experience managing debt facilities, funding structures and lender relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate tax, VAT and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in a multi-entity group environment.
  • Advanced financial modelling and cash flow forecasting experience.
  • Experience engaging with SARS lenders, auditors, banks, and external advisors.
  • Strong technology savvy with the ability to quickly learn and effectively use new systems, tools, and digital platforms
  • ERP / MS Dynamics experience: Advantageous

What Does Success Look Like?

By 3 Months

  • I will have built strong relationships with SARS, key stakeholders, lenders, banks and advisors.
  • I will have taken ownership of the Group's treasury, tax, debt and intercompany processes.
  • I will have developed a clear understanding of the Group's funding structures and reporting requirements.

By 6 Months

  • I will be delivering a tangible tax improvement plan for the group
  • I will be effectively managing tax compliance across all Group entities.
  • I have forged solid relationships with lenders and have met all business reporting requirements
  • I will have improved visibility and control over debt, treasury and intercompany activities.

By 12 Months

  • I will be recognised as a trusted subject matter expert in treasury, tax and capital management.
  • I will have strengthened funding, treasury and governance processes across the Group.
  • I will be providing strategic insights that support SolarAfrica's growth and financial sustainability.
