Applied AI Engineer - AI & Automation

About the Role

This is a founding-level engineering role at a seed-stage tax advisory technology company building an agentic AI platform for the German tax and accounting industry. You will design and own the full AI infrastructure, then ship the first production use cases on top of it. Your work directly shapes how tax professionals operate day to day.

What You'll Do

• Design and build the agentic AI foundation that powers all AI product features.

• Ship the first AI use cases inside real tax advisory workflows, iterating directly on feedback from advisory teams.

• Own the AI infrastructure end-to-end, from architecture decisions through to production deployment.

• Work across the stack to integrate AI capabilities into existing product surfaces.

What We're Looking For

• -
• 3 to 10+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, with a product-minded focus on business outcomes.
• -
• Proven experience building real agentic systems: LLM orchestration, agent frameworks, and tool use in production.

• Strong software engineering fundamentals; NestJS and/or React experience is a strong plus.

• Comfort owning the full stack without relying on low-code tooling.

• University degree in a relevant field.

• Experience with RAG pipelines, vector databases, or document processing is a plus.

• Background in tax, legal, accounting, or professional services is a plus.
• -
• Prior experience in a startup or early-stage environment is a plus.
• -
• German language proficiency is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: 60,000 to 120,000 EUR annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Location

On-site in Berlin, Germany. This role requires regular in-person presence and is not available on a remote basis.
