About The Role

Join CesiumAstro, a cutting-edge space electronics company, as a Summer 2027 Electrical Engineering Intern. Work alongside design engineers on full-stack hardware development for satellite communication systems. Gain hands-on experience with lab instruments, schematic capture, PCB layout, and debugging. Ideal candidates are electrical engineering students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and strong extracurricular involvement.

  • Contributing to the design and development of electronics hardware for satellite communication systems, including schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Supporting the analysis, testing, and debugging of hardware designs, and gaining hands-on experience with lab instruments.
  • Collaborating with design engineers and taking responsibility for your own schematics and layouts, as well as supporting analysis and hands-on lab work.
  • Hands-on experience with lab instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators
  • Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, bring-up, and debugging
  • Strong fundamentals in EE topics covered in coursework
  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science (BS), Master of Science (MS), or PhD program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited university
  • GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Cesium interns regularly present their work to peers, mentors, and Cesium executive leadership throughout the course of the summer
  • Practical experience designing and building electronics hardware for a research project, competition team, extracurricular activity, prior internship, or advanced engineering course
  • Please Note: To conform with the United States Government Space Technology Export Regulations, the applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., conditional resident, asylee or refugee (protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
  • Strong extracurricular involvement, such as in competition teams or research
  • Aerospace experience, such as a previous internship or school CubeSat project
  • Strong programming skills to support hardware bring-up and test (C/C++, Python, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Advanced coursework or research experience in digital, power, analog, and/or RF circuit design
  • Experience with SPICE-based circuit simulation
