Seeking Level 1-4 engineers.The IA Hardware Design Engineer designs and tests integrated circuits and hardware components for a wide variety of signal processing applications and research. Designs, documents, and develops code (to include firmware) for digital signal processors or other programmable hardware devices such as Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) hardware. Designs, tests, simulates, and verifies new integrated circuits or hardware components. Provides detailed engineering reports, datasheets, test plans, and any other engineering documents needed to describe the hardware design. Document the design process.Responsibilities:Levels 1-4Assist with designing new products and processes and improving and maintaining existing productsCommunicate with the other engineering personnel to coordinate the interrelated design and assure project completionConduct design analysis on components and assemblies to assist in the development process by ensuring designs are cost efficient, able to be manufactured, and reliableApply ASIC or FPGA place and route (P&R) tools with various libraries to create physical implementations of designsDevelop and maintain documentation for the P&R design flowsAssist with de-processing electronic components and retrieving stored firmware or softwareDesign new products and processes and improving and maintaining existing productsWork with tool and library vendors to develop solutions for designers’ P&R design challengesIntegrate new P&R tools, P&R tool updates, and ASIC or FPGA design libraries into Government’s computer aided design environment, documents the use of those tools and libraries, and Assist other physical designers to successfully complete their specific P&R design tasksLead the designs of new products and processes and improve and maintain existing productsProvide technical leadership to less experienced engineersPerform Security Verification Testing and Certification to meet Type I Information Assurance Certification standardsLevels 3-4:Produce security evaluation documentation to support new ASIC and FPGA designsReview Very High Speed Integrated Circuit (VHSIC) Hardware Description Language (VHDL) code and provide security recommendationsPerform full scan to test an ASIC and FPGAEvaluate, review, and test security codeLevel 4:Direct and check the work of other hardware design engineersRequirements:Level 1:One (1) year of experience as a HDE in integrated circuit or microelectronic component design is requiredBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university is requiredFour (4) years of additional hardware design engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degreeLevel 2:Six (6) years of experience as a HDE in integrated circuit or microelectronic component design is requiredBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university is requiredFour (4) years of additional hardware design engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degreeLevel 3:Twelve (12) years of experience as a HDE in integrated circuit or microelectronic component design is requiredBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university is requiredFive (5) years of additional hardware design engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degreeLevel 4:Fifteen (15) years of experience as a HDE in integrated circuit or microelectronic component design is requiredBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university is requiredFour (4) years of additional hardware design engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degreeA Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science may be substituted for two (2) years of experienceA PhD in Engineering or Computer Science may be substituted for four (4) years of experienceUS citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance required#LI-KD1
