About The Role
Key Responsibility Areas:
•Survey undeveloped areas (vacant land, swamp land, marsh land, rivers, streams, watercourses etc.) and other prescribed localities including residential and industrial areas for actual and potential mosquito breeding.
- Collect specimens of mosquito larvae and freshwater snails, record their exact location and submit same for laboratory identification/research.
•Destroy mosquito breeding with larvicides and apply herbicides for the control and destruction of weeds.
•Note and report on public health nuisances i.e. illegal dumping and derelict vehicles, squatting/illegal shack erection, sewer surcharges, dead animals, offensive smells, fly breeding and rodent activity, pollution of rivers/water courses.
•Undertake vector surveys and control campaigns.
•Maintain a full record of daily work and submit a monthly statistical return.
•Clean vehicles attached to the Vector Control Section.
- Assist in the training of students in the field.
•Ensures effective destruction of rodents, cockroaches and other pest by the correct selection and utilisation of chemicals, materials, and equipment.

Essential Requirements:
•Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.
•1 Year relevant experience
Preferred Requirements:
•2 Years relevant experience.
