Patient Access Representative (PRN)
ThePatient Access Representative (PAR)plays a crucial role in the emergency center's operational efficiency by ensuring a smooth check-in and check-out process for patients. The role requiresstrong communicationskills, organizational abilities, and a commitment tomaintainingpatient confidentiality and safety.This position is integral to fostering a supportive and efficient environment in the Emergency Center, ensuring patients receive the care they need while upholding the standards of the healthcare facility.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Front Desk Operations:

Greet patients and guests with a cheerful demeanor
-
Determinenecessary services and direct patients accordingly
-
Collect demographic information and ensure proper signatures for billing accuracy

Maintain logs of patient information and manage phone inquiries professionally
-
Manage office supplies andmaintaina clean and welcoming environment
Financial Responsibilities:
-
Collect payments via cash, checks, and credit card for co-pays and account balances
-
Maintainan accuratefinancial ledger and perform daily reconciliation of patient accounts
Facility Cleanliness:
-
Assistinmaintainingthe overall cleanliness of the facility, including patient areas and restrooms
Communication Skills:
-
Interact courteously with patients, families, physicians, and team members, upholding the Emergency Center's core values
Professional Development:
-
Attend monthly staff meetings and engage in performance improvement activities
Other Duties:
-
Assistmanagement withadditionaltasks orprojects asassigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

-
High School Diploma or equivalent
-
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Patient Access Representative role within a Hospital, ER, or Clinic
-
Previousexperience in medical registration, admitting, and scheduling in an ER setting is preferred
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Support patient care areas by ensuringappropriate suppliesare stocked

Assistwith patient restraint procedures and documentation as needed

Attend scheduled meetings asrequired
JOB COMPETENCIES:

Proficient in navigating andutilizingElectronic Medical Records (EMR)

Understanding and compliance with Hospital Policies and Procedures

Commitment to ongoing education and professional development
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Constant: Vision (various forms), Hearing, Speaking, Manual dexterity, Mobility

Frequent: Bending, Squatting, Twisting, Lifting to 20 lbs. unaided, 50 lbs. withassistance

Occasional: Climbing, Kneeling, Distinguishing colors

Rarely: Exposure to electric shock and confined spaces
