Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Consultant

Our leading healthcare facility is looking for an experienced Consultant Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician to provide comprehensive medical and rehabilitative care for patients with musculoskeletal, neurological, and disabling conditions. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in functional assessment, pain management, rehabilitation planning, and multidisciplinary care.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive functional, neurological, and musculoskeletal assessments.
• Diagnose and manage conditions affecting mobility, strength, function, and quality of life.
• Develop individualized rehabilitation plans based on patients' clinical conditions and functional goals.
• Manage patients recovering from stroke, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic conditions, and major surgery.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic musculoskeletal and neuropathic pain.
• Provide medical management for spasticity, muscle disorders, joint conditions, and other disabling conditions.
• Perform or coordinate appropriate pain-management procedures and image-guided injections where qualified.
• Utilize and interpret investigations including MRI, CT, X-rays, EMG, and nerve conduction studies where applicable.
• Prescribe and coordinate physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and other rehabilitation services.
• Assess the need for orthotics, prosthetics, braces, wheelchairs, and other assistive devices.
• Monitor rehabilitation progress and modify treatment plans according to patient outcomes.
• Lead multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams and coordinate care with neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and other specialists.
• Counsel patients and families regarding prognosis, rehabilitation goals, home care, and long-term functional independence.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in quality improvement, teaching, and continuing medical education.

Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
• MD / DNB / Arab Board / equivalent recognized postgraduate qualification in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.
• Significant post-specialization experience with Consultant-level experience.
• Strong experience in comprehensive rehabilitation and functional medicine.
• Excellent clinical judgment and multidisciplinary leadership skills.
• Strong expertise in musculoskeletal, neurological, and rehabilitation medicine.
• Excellent communication and patient-management abilities.
