Assistant Estimator

To acquire the knowledge of estimation through, assisting and supporting the Estimators in preparing a realistic and competitive estimate of the cost of labour, subcontractor cost and material required for the project.

Functional Roles and Responsibilities

• Prepare and carry out quantity take offs and BOQs from drawings.
• Assist in Procuring labour cost, material cost, Subcontractor cost from within the company and from subcontractors. Work with Estimators to vet the priced quotations.
• Support Estimators to Prepare adjudications for Management review.
• Prepare upon award of the project, a summary of the job including cost of labour, material, subcontractor quotations, quantity and quality of the material required as per the specification of the client to ensure that they are as per the prescribed parameters.
• Help Estimating team in implementing plans to ensure that estimating process takes place in most professional and cost-effective manner
• Coordinate in preparing estimates, for the QS, to obtain the approval of the client/consultant of the variation in the labour and material cost arising out of a change in drawing proposed by the client.
• Assist in drafting a report on pre and post completion cost to enable the management to assess the profitability on the job.

Education/Certification and Continued Education

• Graduate in any discipline, preferably QS

Years of Experience

• 2-3 years’ experience in a large construction / interior fit out Company
