Lab Assistant I

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or highest level of degree required Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related field strongly preferred for Histology and Cytology positions.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: ASCP/Phlebotomy certification or registry eligible preferred. Previous hospital phlebotomy experience may be substituted for certification. Incumbents working in a phlebotomist role must maintain 12 CEUs annually. BLS required effective 1/1/2021, existing incumbents with HSAED will be required to renew with BLS all new hires effective this same date are required to have BLS within 6 months of hire or transfer
EXPERIENCE: Prior experience preferred, but not required. Knowledge of medical terminology required; knowledge of laboratory information system utilization must be acquired after 3 months on the job training. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.
