Staff Engineer (Payments Performance)

Join our Payments Performance team as a Staff Engineer, where you will optimize payment performance, improve conversion rates, maximize take rate, and control fraud and operational costs. You will design and evolve systems for payment routing, fraud prevention, and anomaly detection, working closely with cross-functional teams. Your expertise in system design and architecture will drive technical decisions and improve our platform.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance systems for payment routing, fraud prevention, and anomaly detection.
• Lead the technical architecture and design of Java-based projects, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability while optimizing application performance.
• Conduct comprehensive system performance tests, troubleshoot design flaws, and provide recommendations for improvements based on performance metrics.
• Experience with monitoring applications in production using telemetry tooling such as Newrelic, Datadog, Grafana + Prometheus, Dynatrace, CloudWatch, distributed logs like ELK, etc
• Well-versed in the software development life cycle
• In-depth knowledge of object-oriented design principles and design patterns
• Ability to write clean, efficient, and readable code
• High-level project management skills
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP (desired)
• Upper-intermediate written and spoken English proficiency
• Experience with Java development frameworks like Spring and Hibernate
• Ability to solve complex software system issues
• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or computer science
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Event-driven architecture design experience
• Solid experience in Java application development and software architecture
• Being a team player, enjoying working with your own team and collaborating with other teams in the organization
• Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in Java development
