Health & Safety Coordinator

Te Tūranga | About the Role

With around 900–1000 people working at our Takapau plant during peak season, health and safety is at the heart of everything we do.

We are looking for a Health & Safety Coordinator to further strengthen our on-site capability, join a team of two H&S Coordinators and support the Health & Safety Manager in delivering a proactive, best-practice approach to risk management, injury prevention, and wellbeing.

The regular hours of work for this role are Monday to Friday, 11am – 7pm; occasional work outside these hours may be required from time to time.

Key responsibilities include

• Support and coordinate the implementation of our H&S frameworks, policies, and processes at site level, ensuring company and legislative compliance.
• Lead proactive risk assessments, hazard management, and emergency preparedness, strengthening Pacific’s safety culture.
• Deliver training and induction sessions, upskilling leaders and employees in safe work practices.
• Support incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified, actions are followed up, and learnings are shared.
• Manage reporting and insights for plant, ensuring robust and meaningful H&S data.
• Support injury management programmes, rehabilitation plans, and wellbeing initiatives.
• Actively engage with production teams, leaders, and employees to build trust, visibility, and a culture of safety.

You’ll be an energetic and detail-oriented health and safety professional, passionate about improving workplace safety and wellbeing. To succeed, you will bring:

• A qualification in Health & Safety and 2–5 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, incident management, and compliance standards.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills – you’ll be comfortable engaging with everyone from frontline staff to managers.
• Confidence using databases and reporting systems, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the ability to influence culture and embed safe practices.
