Building Maintenance Mechanic (Harrah's Joliet)

Are you a skilled Building Maintenance Mechanic with expertise in professional painting and commercial flooring? This role is responsible for maintaining the appearance of our property through expert painting, drywall repair, and commercial carpet and flooring installation and repair. • Perform professional interior and exterior painting, including surface preparation, patching, sanding, priming, and finishing.
• Repair drywall and prepare walls, ceilings, doors, and trim for painting.
• Install, repair, replace, and maintain commercial carpet, carpet tile, vinyl flooring, VCT, ceramic tile, and other flooring materials.
• Measure, cut, fit, and patch carpet to ensure a professional appearance.
• Perform flooring transitions, trim work, and finish carpentry related to flooring projects.
• Complete preventive and corrective maintenance work orders while maintaining a clean and safe work area.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
• Assist with other general building maintenance projects as needed.
• Assist all other trades within the Facilities Department as operational needs require.
• Maintain an inventory of parts and materials necessary for repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Keep all equipment rooms, mechanical spaces, tools, and assigned work areas clean and organized.
• Respond promptly to emergency and critical situations affecting operations.
• Abide by all safety policies and report hazards to the Supervisor or Department Manager.
• Engage collaboratively with all departments in a professional and courteous manner.
• Be a participative member of the team by volunteering and contributing ideas that improve operations and efficiency.
• Provide fast, friendly, and flawless service to every guest and team member.
• Adhere to all regulatory, company, and departmental policies and procedures.
• Perform duties as assigned while always presenting oneself as a credit to Harrah’s and encouraging others to do the same.
• 3+ years of professional painting experience required.
• 3+ years of commercial carpet installation, repair, and flooring experience required.
• Experience with drywall repair, texture matching, and finish work preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required..
• Experience utilizing CMMS or work order management systems such as Maximo.
• Proficiency in the use of hand tools, power tools, multimeters, temperature probes, pressure gauges, and other diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and general building systems preferred.
• Must be knowledgeable of OSHA safety standards and safe work practices.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-outs.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands

• Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Position requires approximately 20% standing and 80% walking.
• Requires frequent bending, pushing, twisting, kneeling, climbing, stooping, and reaching overhead.
• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors, climb ladders, and operate man-lift equipment.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to respond to touch, speech, smell, auditory, and visual cues.
• May be exposed to varying temperatures, mechanical equipment, and refrigeration systems.

Compensation & Benefits

• Earn between $25.00 - $30.00/hr, based on experience.

Shift Details

• Swing Shift: 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm
