About The Role

Occupational Therapist I Inpatient, Full-Time Days

***$1500 Dollar Sign-On Bonus***

The Occupational Therapist performs occupational therapy services/procedures and consultations, primarily in all areas (pediatrics, adult inpatient, hand therapy) as assigned. OT I is responsible for active participation in performance improvement activities of the service, and the supervision of patient care rendered by OTA's.

The Occupational Therapist I directly reports to an Assistant Director. Receives orientation, coaching and mentoring from the Assistant Director, Program Coordinators, Occupational Therapist IIIs, IIs and other Occupational Therapists.

The Occupational Therapist supervises patient care delegated to the OTA. The Occupational Therapist I may supervise OT students.

Essential Job Functions

Evaluates patients utilizing the appropriate test and measurements; to determine the occupational therapy problem/level of function and the expected discharge environment, establishes a treatment plan, including home program, based upon the evaluation findings, the patient/family, the referring practitioner and therapist’s. goals. Performs appropriate occupational therapy techniques and procedures. Documents patient findings, progress, procedures performed and time required.

Demonstrates effective time management and achieves designated productivity expectation.

  • Complies with PI initiatives including assisting with service projects to enhance customer satisfaction and patient outcomes within the department and organization.
  • Completes all LI and initial annual competencies.
  • Attends rounds, conferences and clinics as assigned; reports on patient status and may recommend patient discharge disposition.

Required Qualifications

  • Requires graduation from an approved occupational therapy school.
  • Requires current occupational therapy license in the State of Illinois (or eligibility to practice) and
  • NBCOT registered
  • CPR BLS certification
  • Requires the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care which is age specific/appropriate for the types of patients served.
  • Requires basic computer knowledge /skills to access patient data.
  • Requires appropriate interpersonal skills to enable positive interactions with patients/families, the multidisciplinary team and external contacts.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Requires graduation from an approved occupational therapy school.
  • NBCOT registered
  • Requires current occupational therapy license in the State of Illinois and
  • CPR certification as healthcare provider
