LPN II Med Ctr - Medical/Surgical (Weekend)

About The Role
The LPN II Med Center Weekend works under the supervision of the Director. The LPN works under the direction of the RN and/or Provider. Administers quality patient care according to established standards. May be required to work in other areas according to skill of staff and acuity of patients. Provides exceptional service to all patients and customers.
- Completes daily reassessments for assigned patients and documents findings.
- Updates and implements the plan of care.
- Reinforces patient teaching and family education.
- Administers medications and monitors patients’ responses to medications including intravenous fluids and medications.
- Collaborates effectively with all members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others (students, orientees).
- Other duties as assigned
Education
- Degree from an accredited school of practical nursing, or military equivalent. - Required
Work Experience
- 1 Year - Hospital setting - Required
Licenses and Certifications
- LPNIV - Lpn Iv Cert - State of Missouri or Kansas, depending upon designated work location. If a new grad, license must be obtained within 90 days post-graduation. - Required within 90 Days
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required within 90 Days
Travel Requirements
- Must be able to travel between various system facilities and off-site locations as needed. - Required
Skills and Abilities
Essential Technical/Motor Skills
- Fine motor skills, eye/hand coordination, answer phone, type. Ability to give injections, administers medications, and change dressings.
Interpersonal Skills
- Displays a friendly, positive attitude and communicates with patients, families, physicians and co-workers in a professional manner.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Must walk, move, kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, stand, pull, push, and lift, speak clearly
Essential Mental Abilities
- Ability to collect thorough information regarding patient’s condition and evaluate effects of care.
- Problem solve, manipulate numbers, adaptability, interpret data, calculate, comprehend, explain, assess, evaluate, short term and long term memory.
Essential Sensory Requirements
- Ability to visually assess patient condition; must be able to communicate with patient in order to assess condition and evaluate effects of care.
- Visual, hearing, feeling, smell.
Exposure to Hazards
- Body fluids, blood, punctures, scratches, and physical injury from combative patients, radiation exposure.
- Needle sticks, cuts, back injury, infection/disease exposure from patients, visitors, and co-workers.
