The 25-bed 5NE Telemetry Unit at Martin North Hospital supports a diverse population, including those experiencing alcohol withdrawal, dementia, and other medical concerns.As a Clinical Technician on this team, you will support your fellow caregivers and medical staff by providing patients with top-quality care within the 5NE Unit. Under the supervision of an RN, you willutilizeyour technical and applicable skills to enhancethe patientexperience and create a welcoming, healing environment. Helping patients withseemingly simpletasks like self-care can make a meaningful difference in their lives, offering a unique opportunity to truly take pride in your work. Acaregiver in this positionworksnightsfrom 6:00PM – 6:30AM.

A caregiver who excels in this role will

-

Provide orassistwith patient care under the supervision of an RN. Patient care may include vital signs, weight,assistingpatients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoringdevicesandinserting urinary Foley catheter.

Report abnormal findings or changes in physical,mentaland emotional conditions to an RN.

Assistwith keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.

Complete an internal training program within two weeks ofthe startdate.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include

-

High School Diploma or GED

  • -
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Crossupon or within new hire period
  • -
  • Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationrequiredprior to hire
  • -
  • Ability to perform basic clinical mathematics
  • -
  • Ability to read, write and speak English and to follow oral and written instructions
  • -
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients and staff

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include

-

One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) ORadditionaleducation/training

Physical Requirements

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force rarely, and/or 0 to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
