The Accounting Technician is an entry-level pathway designed for Emily Griffith Technical College (EGTC) students seeking to begin their career in accounting and gain foundational industry experience. The role provides hands-on exposure to core accounting processes while supporting the accounting team with routine transactional work, general ledger support, document indexing, data entry, and record keeping. This position is intentionally focused on building essential accounting knowledge, accuracy, and familiarity with financial systems, providing a strong foundation for future growth within the accounting field.

What You'll Do
- Enter basic financial transactions, journal entries, and general ledger information into the accounting system with accuracy
- Review source documents to confirm information is complete and matches system entries
- Organize and maintain digital and physical financial records, receipts, invoices, and supporting documentation
- Retrieve financial documents and records as requested for audits, reporting, or internal review
- Cross-check transaction totals and system records to identify missing or inconsistent information
- Flag numerical discrepancies, incomplete information, or unusual transactions for review by senior accounting staff
- Support accounts and record clean-up activities in preparation for monthly and year-end close
- Assist with routine accounting-related administrative tasks, including scanning, indexing, filing, and organizing financial documents
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records in accordance with established procedures
- Learn and apply basic accounting procedures, systems, and terminology while developing skills for progression into higher-level accounting positions
- Perform other duties, as assigned
What You’ll Need
- High school diploma or GED minimum required.
